Having worked with Buster over the years, including his studio Wonder Group on our flagship Auckland showroom, the timing for a product collaboration felt natural. Together, we were drawn to the idea of timber meeting glass.
Buster connected us with local glass artisan Luke Jacomb, a long-time collaborator and friend. Luke brings a deep understanding of hand-crafted glass and a dedication to objects made with intention, making him a fitting partner for this exploration.

During Buster’s creative process, the concept of Bouba—Kiki became a source of inspiration. The Bouba–Kiki effect suggests we instinctively interpret shapes as soft or sharp, an idea that guided the design language of the collaboration.

The result: Bouba, soft, approachable and optimistic with a softened hexagonal oak base; and Kiki, angular, grounded and precise, with a dark square base and smokey, charcoal top. Together, the pair share a unique conversation.

Beginning as grains of sand, heated to searing temperatures, then cast upon a stainless bench in a humble Avondale shed. Bouba—Kiki find stillness as pebbles, elemental and calm.

Limited to 15 units of each, Bouba–Kiki are now available. Individually numbered and distinctly one-of-one.
