Woodwrights Outdoor pieces are designed and crafted for long-term outdoor performance using Iroko timber, marine-grade plywood internal framing, outdoor-grade foams and fibres, and exterior fabrics. Each piece is individually made to endure New Zealand conditions when correctly cared for and maintained.

This warranty is provided to the original purchaser for residential use only and covers manufacturing defects under normal outdoor conditions for the following periods from the date of purchase:

Timber, Finish & Maintenance Requirements

Each piece containing Iroko timber has been factory-finished in Sikkens Cetol HLSe oil. To maintain the integrity and longevity of your furniture:

  • Re-oiling is required at least once per annum — or more frequently in coastal, high-UV, or high-rainfall environments.

  • Follow the Woodwrights Outdoor Care Guide for correct re-oiling procedures.

  • Keep a maintenance log recording oiling dates and products used.

  • Failure to maintain or re-oil timber surfaces as recommended will void timber-related warranty coverage.

Note: The Sikkens Cetol HLSe oil finish is a natural protective system requiring ongoing care. Surface weathering, fading, or failure to re-oil is not considered a manufacturing defect.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

This warranty does not cover:

  • Natural timber behaviour such as colour variation, greying, movement, checking, splitting, or tannin leaching.

  • Changes in surface appearance or performance of oiled finishes or other coatings.

  • Fading, discolouration, mildew, or deterioration due to UV exposure, salt, pollution, or other environmental factors.

  • Damage caused by lack of maintenance, improper cleaning, use of harsh chemicals, pressure washing, or storing/covering furniture while damp.

  • Corrosion, oxidation, or rusting from salt or moisture exposure.

  • Damage due to misuse, impact, dragging, alteration or repairs not performed or approved by Woodwrights.

  • Commercial or contract use, unless covered by a separate written agreement.

  • Normal wear and tear.
Proof of Purchase & Claims Process

To make a claim:

Liability & Limitations

This warranty is limited to the repair, replacement, or credit of the product value.

It is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.

Woodwrights is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss.

Outdoor Care & Use Guidelines (Summary)
  • Clean regularly (every 1-2 months in non coastal environments) with lukewarm water and a soft cloth or sponge.

  • Re-Oiling: Apply one maintenance coat of Sikkens Cetol HLSe every 12 months (or more often in harsh conditions). Clean thoroughly, allow to dry, lightly sand, and brush on a thin even coat along the grain. Wipe off excess and allow to dry fully before use.Increase cleaning and oiling frequency in coastal or high-UV locations.

  • Store cushions when not in use; never cover or store damp furniture.

  • Avoid pressure washing, abrasive pads, solvent cleaners, chlorine, bleach or acidic washes.

  • Maintain free airflow around stored furniture to prevent mould or mildew.

  • When not in use, protect furniture with a breathable outdoor cover to reduce UV and weather exposure. Only cover once the furniture and cushions are completely dry to prevent trapping moisture.

  • Record all maintenance activities for warranty validation.
Your Statutory Rights

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (NZ) and/or the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).You are entitled to a replacement or refund for major failure and to have goods repaired or replaced for other failures to meet acceptable quality.

Summary of Core Caveats
  • Timber and finishes naturally age and change outdoors — this is expected and not a fault.

  • Ongoing maintenance is essential for longevity; warranty coverage assumes documented re-oiling at least once annually.

  • Environmental exposure, misuse, neglect, or lack of maintenance will void relevant portions of this warranty.

  • Warranty is valid for residential use only and limited to the original purchaser.
