Backyard alchemy with Luke Jacomb

There’s a special feeling as you walk into the workshop at Luke Jacomb’s, where tools, materials, and ideas feel purposefully out of place. It’s here that each Bouba—Kiki top is hand-poured.

The space reflects the way Luke and his team work, unhurried, experimental and grounded in decades of craft. Among them is Matt, Luke’s assistant and childhood friend, moving through the workshop with an ease that comes from long familiarity.

Beginning as grains of sand, heated to searing temperatures, then cast upon a stainless bench in a humble Avondale shed, Bouba–Kiki take shape. The glass settles into pebble form, holding a sense of stillness – elemental, calm and uniquely one of one.

Each limited edition pice, captures light through organic ripples and bubbles. Bouba offers a quiet presence with a gentle transparency that recalls the calming qualities of water. Kiki, by contrast, echos the shifting depth and movement of water with its deep, moody character.

Bouba–Kiki is now on display in our Auckland showroom, where the quiet alchemy of timber and glass can be experienced up close.

Bouba—Kiki in collaboration with Buster Caldwell & Luke Jacomb

We’ve collaborated with designer Buster Caldwell and glass artisan Luke Jacomb to create a limited edition series of side tables: Bouba—Kiki. A study in backyard alchemy, each piece captures light through ripples and bubbles, making every table uniquely one of one.
